Happy TransformationTuesday! ☀️ ▫️ Body, mind and soul transformation happens a lot faster than people want to believe or give themselves credit for. As humans, we aren’t fully aware of the power of our mind to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. We are nervous to commit to grand goals for fear of failure and often accompany set goals with a bank of possible reasons as to why we may fail (i.e. excuses) instead of accepting nothing less that the desired result. ▫️ Let’s consider my short-term 2018 “Thailand Body Goal”: This time last week I had only just set the goal to get beach ready for our trip in (now) 37 days 😁😁😁. One week ago I committed to a HEALTHY eating plan (i.e. cut out daily sugar-laden treats intake 🍭🍫🍬), proper HYDRATION (that didn’t include 2 glasses of festive holiday vino a day 🙄), focused resistance and cardio training (instead of possibly one half-hearted activity session per day) and 8 hours of rest (instead of series binging into the late hours of the night and skimping on sleep). ▫️ The result? My body, mind and soul are responding beautifully: I feel fantastic and far less “fluffy” (water retention from less-than-perfect diet is correcting itself naturally), my mind is clear and sharp and my soul is at peace. It’s taken just ONE WEEK to shift myself into a totally different body and mindset. While I absolutely loved the much-needed and therapeutic “time off”, in my current headspace, I feel like I am firing on all cylinders and ready for a mind-blowing 2018! ▫️ What’s the start of your 2018 looking like? Ladies (and gents) - we have to love our bodies through every season. Most times this is within our control and something which we can easily shift with the right guidance. Over this weekend I chatted to 3 athletes who are all dealing with negative body images due to the massive changes our bodies go through between being on stage and off-season. The fact is that as fitness athletes, we cannot stay super lean all year round for three main reasons (and yes, these are MY reasons): ▫️ 1️⃣ It’s not sustainable as we use calorie restriction to dial in closer to a fitness show and maintaining an incredibly low body fat percentage wreaks havoc with our hormones. ▫️ 2️⃣ If we did maintain low calorie consumption in an effort to stay lean all year round, next time we need to dial in for a fitness show, what calories can we cut without causing metabolic damage to our bodies?! ▫️ 3️⃣ It’s just boring to be so disciplined all the time!! You need time off from strict diet protocol to reset both your body and your mind. Life is about balance and life is to be LIVED! ▫️ We need to stop comparing ourselves to all the posts on social streams which depict bodies in perfect condition all year round. Everyone goes through various seasons in their life for different reasons: post-show recovery, pregnancy, menstrual cycles, illness, (the list is endless)... just some people are scared to show their raw and real truth because the world is filled with opinions and judgements that are so easily thrown around. ▫️ We need to love and appreciate our bodies for the amazing machines that they are and for all that they do for us despite what we do to them (e.g. incorrect diet, lack of proper hydration, lack of sleep, excessive partying... again... so many to list here). ▫️ In the words of Augusten Burrough “if you have your health, you have everything”. Let’s make 2018 a year where we focus on working on building (and teaching others to build) a healthy body, mind and soul as their foundation. Oh how Saturday nights have changed!! I used to be the first one up for a night out on the town 🥂... Even today we were invited out to a hip ‘n happening pool party in an upmarket suburb in Johannesburg but we regretted the invitation... Why (I even asked myself this question a few times 🤣🤣🤣)? Well, going out means spending big cash (nights out these days aren’t cheap) plus a few cheat beverages and possibly a cheat meal along the way combined with a super late night which, compounded, all has a negative effect on tomorrow’s training and our short-term goals! ▫️ What are those goals? Well, in just 39 days we will be going on the trip of a lifetime to explore Thailand and my Human and I have set the goal to 1) save cash so that we don’t have to hold back on holiday and 2) get rid of the “Festive Fluff” and be in super sexy shape to show off on the beaches of paradise. ▫️ So yeah... instead of posting a pic of a party, you’re getting the incredible sunset I am watching while warming up for session 2 of today. So after entering December with abs, this is the raw and real aftermath!! “Did I you survive the Festive Season?” people are posting on social media. For me that’s the wrong question! A better question we should be asking is “Did you ENJOY the Festive Season? I know I certainly did 🐷! ▫️ So in the name of WellnessWednesday, these three photos were each taken 24 hours apart. The pic on the left was Monday’s first check-in after ditching my 3 week December see-food diet (ie I see it, I eat it). The fluffiness (water retention + fat) = indicative of huge amounts of happiness resulting from enjoying all foods and an EXCESSIVE AMOUNT of Lindt Chocolate Balls 🍫 and Fruit Pastels 🤷🏻‍♀️. I can honestly say that I don’t want to see either of those for a while ✋ but my body feels fuelled, energised and oh-so-ready to get cracking with 2018 prep like never before. The pic in the middle was taken yesterday. The pic on the right, was taken this morning. For those OCD personalities and anyone who likes playing “Where’s Wally”... the big question begging to be asked is “Where are your shreds, SoldierGirl?” 😂😂😂. But in three days of sticking to the plan, they are slowly 🐌 making their come-back and this three day “detox” merely highlights that your PHYSIQUE is 100% WHAT YOU EAT and you can make huge inroads into your body transformation by getting to grips with how you nourish yourself. ▫️ For those who follow extremely clean eating habits coupled with intensive training for long periods of time, remember the importance of taking time out to rest, recover and indulge... falling off the bandwagon for 3 weeks vs 49 weeks of staying the course doesn’t do damage at all. As we edge back into the new year a little “fluffier” for having enjoyed the festivities that the summer holidays bring with it (both my hands are unashamedly up here), instead of reveling in anger and guilt at the consequences, embrace the fact that your body is the most magnificent machine and with a goal and a plan of action focused on holistic wellness and mindful living, you can achieve whatever it is that your heart desires. ▫️ For me, a healthy body and mind, are the foundations for optimum living and over the next few weeks, we will continue to share our life philosophies, training and nutrition habits as we get our bodies beach-ready for Thailand in February (I always set wellness goals every 2-3 months to keep my eyes on the prize!). ▫️ Kicking off my 2018 “prep” just wouldn’t be as easy and exuberant without the incredible brands I am associated with and I would like to take this opportunity to thank: ▫️ My Coach, Jack Taynton Lotter, and Team STS for the focused plans of action, daily motivation and support. Try our latest kitchen experiment this weekend and share your experiences with us! ▫️ Blueberry Choc Protein Muffins ▫️ Ingredients: ▫️ 4 Scoops SSN 100% Whey (Chocolate) 100ml Almond Breeze Almond Milk 2 Whole Eggs + 6 Egg Whites 1/2 Cup Wheat Bran 1/2 Cup Crushed All Bran 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder 1 Tbsp Peanut Butter Fresh Blueberries ▫️ Method: ▫️ 1. Pre-heat oven to 180’C 2. Throw all ingredients (except the blueberries) into a blender. 3. Blend until smooth 4. Pour batter into muffin tins 5. Add blueberries individually to each muffin to ensure even distribution! 6. Bake for 15-20 minutes 7. Let the muffins cool... blueberries hold heat and if they pop in your mouth while hot, they release steam! It’s not pleasant!! 7. Today I weighed in at my lightest in over a year! Being a sporty and muscular girl coupled with my fitness career, I’ve always sat around the 75kg - 77kg mark (I know right!!) and while I am not an advocate of watching the scale (I prefer body fat and body part measurements), it sure does feel good to weigh in at 65kg! Maybe it’s the fact that I feel lighter and more girly 💃🏻... maybe it’s the incredibly hot weather we are experiencing in Joburg that begs you to wear less ☀️ , but much to everyone’s amazement (including mine) I’ve recently taken to wearing dresses 👗. Being a tomboy, dresses have never been an item of clothing I have even remotely considered buying unless absolutely necessary 🙄... But now I can’t get enough of them! ▫️ This was last night’s choice for an incredible family dinner at a very upmarket restaurant 💁🏻‍♀️. HELLO HAPPY HOLIDAY HAIR 👋! I am so excited for our upcoming family festivities that a hair-change was needed to depict the magical spirit of this time of year 🦄 💁🏻‍♀️. This will be my first Christmas with my Love and his family so between both of our family-crazy tribes, this year’s year-end celebrations are sure to be absolutely phenomenal! We have a number of family traditions from Christmas Eve dinners to opening Christmas pressies early on Christmas morning while savouring home-made mince pies and bubbly🥂 ... to eating the most delicious Christmas meals around the table, lighting up Granny’s famous Christmas Pudding before devouring it with my late aunt’s famous Sherry Pudding! Most importantly we give thanks for a year passed and for family and friends who have made the year so memorable. ▫️ Whatever your Festive Season traditions are, remember to take time to tell those you love how much you appreciate them, worry a little less, give a little more and be grateful for what you have... ❤️

No Sweat, no Beauty. No Squats, no Booty... 😜 On a serious note though once upon a time I didn’t have a round butt - it was flat like a pancake 🥞🙄! It’s taken eight years of perfecting the deep squat coupled with variations of lunges and step-ups to build my gluteus and for the first time ever I am now the proud owner of a round booty which I haven’t actually appreciated until this pic was taken by my other half while I was being a lazy ass (excuse the pun 😂) on a Sunday.
